The Safaricom Marathon is known to be one of the toughest marathon races in the world. It was held for the first time back in 1999. It takes place in "Lewa Wildlife Conservancy" in northern Kenya.

This spectacular and world-renowned event attracts participants from all over the world – both walkers, amateur runners and elite runners are participating in Safaricom Marathon each year.

This marathon is unique and exceptional in many ways.

The route is a 21 km "Loop-Route" through "Lewa Wildlife Conservancy". It takes you through some of Africa´s most breath-taking scenery. You will be in an average altitude of 5.500 ft. You will pass one big and four smaller hills. You will experience breathtaking views. You will see rhinos, elephants and zebras.

This is definitely a marathon dedicated adventurous runners who want extraordinary and spectacular challenges.

The time limit is 6 hours and 30 minutes.
