The Great North Run is a half marathon taking place each year in September in Newcastle in England. It is the world´s second largest half marathon with more than 50.000 runners that participate each year.

The first race took place back in 1981. Today it is a weekend-long event with CityGames and Junior races the day before the half marathon race.

The route starts at the city center and finishes by the sea. It takes the runners from Newcastle via Tyne and Gateshead to South Shields. There are lots of entertainment and many spectators along the route.

There is no time limit.
